Thankful

This Christmas I am thankful for a few things. I am gonna get mushy here. Those of you who know me, know that I don't do that. But it is Christmas and so many things have changed this year.
I was published. This was cool. I liked it. But I could have gone on with out it. But I am thankful.

My Parents who are still around to have seen it.

Love you guys!

This little angel, who lights up our life!!
(Clara)
This guy who cracks me up!
I think he takes after me.
(anything for a laugh, even if it includes underwear on your head)
James
And most of all.......
Farris and Rick
Rick had cancer surgery last year on December 15th and so far cancer has stayed at bay.
Farris was never suppose to be here.
Here the two are.
Who said there was no God?
Just one more sign that there is a God!

Merry Christmas!

Waxed snowman

Well I am back, just as I promised. Here are just 2 of the paintings that I did for my ATC group and the Pine City Girls and my Sis.Each one that I did was a bit different. I think by the time I was done, I had done 16 of these babies. That's a lot of waxing! But I love it.

This is something I put together. I wanted it to look vintage and I think it does. I use tinsel silver pipe cleaners, vintage music sheets and an old postcard. Glittered and TA DA! Oh and a bit of distress ink.
Oh and this I just had to post again.
Sorry she is just so cute!

What I have been up to

I have been making tags................................SEE!
(No presents to put them on yet, I have not started)
Working on ATC's

coloring the ATC's

Still have finishing touches on the ATC's.
Now the next project was inspired by Cosmo Cricket blog today. They had shown how to make a form of these flowers and this is what I came up with. It was fun to make these.
This is a close up of one of the jars that I decorated.

Here is a close up of my inspired flower.

Here are the 3 jars I did. The short snowman has a knob for a hat. The tall snowman has a snowflake from Cosmo Cricket. The small jar I put on a snowflake with mittens hanging down from the flower snowflake.
These were so fun to make. The heads are styrofoam with Martha Stewart mica flakes all over them. The noses were made by just rolling up orange paper and gluing them shut. Eyes and mouth are button brads. Jars are saved from different foods. Husband said, "so that is why we wash and save those things", as he walks away he mumbles loudly he really likes these recycled jars. Ha, see the woman is always right!
I have also been painting but I can't show you those quit yet.
Off to go create some more art!
P.S. ----Go visit my Sister's blog for a look at a cute sweatshirt she made for a Teacher
her blog is on the right..........you know over there.....Caterpillar Creations.

I'm Back

Yeah, yeah, yeah....blah, blah, blah

I have not been on my blog updating because I have been busy with life....
We have recently moved and I am trying to fit a big house into a small house and it is not working for me.
One good thing out of this....My art studio is bigger!!!!
What does that mean for me? BIGGER MESS and lots of art!

I have been doing some Petite Doll Paintings and doing lots of drawing as ideas for the dolls come into my head. Now I just need to get all those drawings painted and out the door for people to enjoy!

Speaking of painting here is one I did for Erin, she is in my ATC group. We traded art for art. I will have to share some of her cards with you sometime, they are fabulous! You can visit her blog, just go over to the sidebar and click on Erin and it will take you to her blog. She is great at updating her blog unlike some people you know.

I had a great surprise in the mail yesterday. I was published in the Somerset Studio Gallery Winter 2010 Magazine. Yep, I am on page 19. I was so excited all I did was open and close, then open and close again and again. I will share as soon as it hits the stand on December 1st.

Other then moving, doing art, unpacking icky brown boxes, hate boxes. Really hate boxes. Let me tell you, they are going to be recycled into corrugated books for art and that will be the only way I will like brown ugly boxes again.

Well hopefully this post is enough for now and I will be back to share a Christmas doll painting that I am doing.

Skirt is done!

Remember back in elementary school when we used tissue paper and stuck them on paper to make flowers and filled in circles with them? (or am I showing my age?) Do you remember that as being fun? I did! Till now!

I put these so close together it took forever! I was up late and up early. I finally finished this. It took me longer to do this, then it took to do the whole rest of the skirt including taking the waistband off a pair of jeans. What was I thinking? Here it is on the dress form. Decked out with an altered jacket and a t-shirt that says...

Friends don't let friends crop alone. This is just another shot of the whole outfit.
Kinda cute.........some of the retreat guests came in the store to check this out and said this is very Project Runway. I guess they had a show a few weeks back where they had to make something out of newspaper. Well I think I certainly went out of the box for this one. A paper skirt out of scrapbook paper? What next?
Well that's all folks! I am off to dream of tissue paper flowers.
Have a great day and don't forget..... create art or smile, they both go along way.
(I know I said that the other day)
But it is true!

Paper Skirt?

Yes, that is what I said. I am making a paper patchwork skirt for my LSS. The owner has this really neat antique dress form and she wanted to dress it and put it in her store. So....I thought how cute would it be if the form had a paper skirt. So far it is turning out okay this is just a peek at it. I must add buttons and maybe some bling or something over the top.
Update on Hilda the Witch..................She found a broomstick and has left me and went to a new home where she will be loved. Thank you all about your inquires about her.
Just a short post.
Remember to create something or at least give someone a smile, they both go a long way!

Cosmo Cricket Halloween Cards

I don't do many cards, however I do think these came out pretty darn cute.
This is Mr Bones and he is ready to go haunting for candy.

This is the inside of Mr Bones. No guts, just a happy Halloween note.
This is my Ghouls card, lots of 1 inch squares going on here. Then I pop dotted the Oh Ghouls up off of the squares.
This is the inside of Oh Ghouls.
Have I ever told you I LOVE my Tim Holtz Stapler "tiny attacher" Love, Love, Love it! I think this would be one of my staples that I have to have. HA! No pun intended!
And my final Boo!
Spider and Web cut out with my Slice. I have to say I love my Slice also!
That's it! Pretty simple blogging.
Go create something creepy and share!

It's over!

MOVE THAT BUS!
I loved all the signs. On the Morris family sign and the thanks TJB sign, they used glitter so they just stood out so nice when then sun reflected off them.
Moments before the bus was moved.
It was a nail biter even for Farris!

Final tape before handing over the key.

Look Mom turned her back for a minute and see what sister does! Bottle of water over the head! No autographed hat was damaged, the cover was on the bottle.
I wish I could show you more, but we can't! It must be saved for the show airing.

Back to regular viewing. Here is something fun I created using Cosmo Cricket Haunted line. I love the way it turned out! It features a hanging skeleton made out of their blackboard pieces and put together with brads that resemble screws and some jump rings. I used rub-ons and ink and put it all together to make this wall hanging for my favorite time of the year.
Hope you enjoy!

Now you have spent way to much time looking at this blog, so go off and create some art!

Extreme Makeover Home Edition!

We interrupt this Art blog for
Extreme Makeover Home Edition!!!!

Today was demo day! It was a little cold and cloudy. Here is Farris waiting for the house to fall down!
Here are Clara and James and Jereomy and Nina waiting for the house to come down. See Clara holding her note pad? That is her autograph book. She asked for autographs from the Police the Fire dept., the director, security and then Ty. She got them all! In fact she got Ty twice!

I am here waiting also. I am with my great nephew, yep that makes me a Great Aunt!

My three grand kids on the big red fire truck!

LOOK!
The house is going down! We were right up front.
It is almost all down! They did stop for a bit because the house was a little out of control and starting to go into the house next store. It would have been a 2 for 1 deal! But all went well and they got it all down. Clean up started right away. They had the hauling trucks all lined up ready to haul things away.

So we start out a few hours behind but I am sure time will be made up in no time. Rain or shine it has to be done. That was the fun of the day. I will try and have updates as the house goes up.

Garbage or not?

Hey just a quick post today. As some of you know I went to a crop a few weeks ago and the host was Cosmo Cricket, well as a friend of mine (Tami) and I were walking out I happened to spot some garbage I thought was kinda cool looking. Yes it was in the garbage, not garbage, garbage, but boxes and paper garbage. So anyway Tami saw the glint in my eye and my mind saying oh I could do something with that. Tami picks it up and takes it with her and when we get outside she hands it to me and said here you go. Tami knew that I would do something with it.

It was a pizza box that Cosmo Cricket ships products in. It says "Cosmo to go". Now how cute is that. So this is what I did with it..................

I thought what a better way to display the picture of me with them. Not original by any means, but it is a good way for you to think outside the box and use things that are around you that you would normally throw out.

That's my post for the day.

Have a art filled day!

Almost done?

I can't decide if I am done or not. I do like how it looks, but I want to make sure I love it before the wax is applied. Here is a shot of the full moon. I based the full moon with yellow tissue paper and then applied layers of paint over it.
This is a closer look at the kitty that is on the fence and the pumpkin on the stick. I do like the way they turned out.

Here is a shot of the fence and pumpkins and her great shoes and stockings.
This is what you have all been waiting for.................here she is in her gloomy Cosmo Cricket gown waiting to haunt in her local neighborhood!

I am trying to decide if I would like her face to have a green hue to it? I am thinking she might need some green envy. Any comments welcome!
Thanks for looking!
Off to create more spooky things!
I just love Halloween....................
