Showing some Metal

Simon Says show some Metal......Not super creative, however sometimes simply is better.

I used Ten Seconds Metal and some of tim's letter's added some wire and I have cute wall decor.

I took the metal, embossed with one of tim's folders. Cut red sheet tape to fit metal and stuck to small canvas. After it was set in place I took some Golden fluid brunt umber light and brushed it over the embossed image, then wiped it off. Make sure you leave some in the grooves. Let that dry, which does not take long. Added the letters and the eye screws and the wire and that is it.

Close up.....love this look..in person it looks like leather.

Celebrate Mad Hatter Day with a MAD TEA PARTY - Week 3

Look what I have brought to the tea party!
Don't they look simply scrumptious?
Tea Cakes, yummy!
Tea sandwiches!

Our generous sponsor this month is The Artistic Stamper.
They are offering a£15 pound voucher for The Artistic Stamper stamps! They have a WONDERFUL online store that offers free worldwide shipping on orders over £35 and they carry loads of my favorite brands. The Artistic Stamper Creative Team Blog offers amazing inspiration and interesting challenges, so be sure to visit! Jennie has kindly provided our design team with the Mabel Lucie Attwell Mad Hatter Stamp for our projects this month. It will be interesting to see how everyone applies their own style and vision to the same image!

My project for the Tea Party is my little Tea Lamp.

I think this is still in the works, I like how it looks.....but....I think I want to find some tea cup charms to hang around the lamp shade. I did try to use some trim, but it was not doing it for me. Was a bit to much!
I have taken the Stamp that was provided by The Artistic Stamper and stamped it onto tissue paper. I then colored the image using watercolor pencils. I then applied fluid matte medium (Golden) to the tissue and to the shade, smoothed it on. I also stamped sayings onto tissue and added those also to the shade.
Here it is lit and not lit. I like it both ways.

                                                                          Lit close up
                                                                    Sayings close up
                                                                      More Sayings
                                                                     Not lit close up
Keep your eyes peeled at garage and estates sales. This was a $2.00 brand new light.
Bargain!

Now if you started here, I want you go to the Altered Alice blog and check out what the other designers did with the same stamp!

Grungy Monday-tag

I know it is Saturday, but that is what the challenge is called.
I just wanted to share another tag I have done with Grungy Monday at Studio L3 Challenge.

Tim had done this technique back in 2008. It is good to get a refresher every now and then.

You can check it out on Tim's blog here. Click here

Here is my tag..............

I used shabby shutters, vintage photo, and mustard seed distress inks. I used a few different sets of stamps. Some snaps and gotta add the mini staples and bang up a a bit. I love to scratch and grunge. One of my friends calls me her grungy friend. LOL! You know who you are!
Another shot on a different background

Make sure you stop by tomorrow for my Altered Alice
project! I think you will like it!
Have a great Saturday!

Challenge-Torn or Distressed

I think I am getting into these challenges. Last week was the first time I had ever done a challenge, I kinda liked it. So now I am back again doing another!

This one is for Simon Says Stamp and Show.

They wanted torn or distressed, I have given them both!

I have used tim's papers and his stamp and his inks and his memo holder, brads, hammer, alterations die, metal corner, and last his distresser. Ha it would have been easier to say what was not his. (ribbon, pearls) (oh and tape) LOL!

Even sitting on filmstrip from tim.

3 brads hammered for extra texture.

You should join in this challenge they have a Simon Says Stamp gift certificate up for 1 lucky winner!
Hope you enjoyed my torn and distressed card.

Ps.............I was published........see post below if your interested!

Good News!

I have been published!

Funny how I found out. I was reading some emails from a "all things tim" group and a lady was talking to the group about the Somerset Studio Gallery summer 2011. she proceeded to say that there was some artist (ha get that artist) named Donna Budzynski that did a mini Halloween book that had some neat ideas and inspiration. Whoa......she was talking about me!

So that is how I found out. I have moved twice since I sent that mini book in, changed my phone number. (T-mobile does not work well in Co) And had to get a new email address because if you do not have comcast you can't keep your email address. WHAT? So they could not get a hold of me even if they tried.

So needless to say I was bouncing off the walls Friday night and could not sleep. I was up first thing in the morning and was at Barnes and Noble to get my copy. (or 2 or 3)

Thanks Somerset Studios for choosing me! With all the Art they get a day it is amazing to me that I have been lucky enough to be chosen each time I have submitted.

So do you want to see some pictures? sure you do! Who reads the blogs anyway? It's all about the pictures not the articles!

I will show you the cover, that was in the article, but I will only show you the pages that were not printed. If you want to see them you will have to take a gander in the Somerset Studio Gallery. But there is some pretty good stuff here.

Paper is Cosmo Cricket Haunted. Lovvvve this paper! Lots of distress inks, crackle paint, gears, pins, memo pin, elastic.....and much much more......

Celebrate with the Altered Alice!

Join Us for a MAD TEA PARTY!

It's off the page!

There are two Mad Hatter Days every year, and one of them is this month! In the United States, October 6th is Mad Hatter Day as we abbreviate our dates as month/day. In the United Kingdom, Mad Hatter Day is June 10th as they abbreviate their dates as day/month. So what do these dates have to do with the Mad Hatter? In the original Tenniel illustrations, the Mad Hatter has a price tag tucked into his hat band. It says "In this Style 10/6" which, for us ignorant Yankees means ten schillings and sixpence, or half a guineau back in Alice's day! So Mad Hatter Day falls on 10/6, and here at The Altered Alice, instead of choosing between date systems, we just celebrate twice a year!!!
Our generous sponsor this month is The Artistic Stamper, and they are offering a £15 pound voucher for The Artistic Stamper stamps! They have a WONDERFUL online store that offers free worldwide shipping on orders over £35 and they carry loads of my favorite brands. The Artistic Stamper  Team Blog offers amazing inspiration and interesting challenges, so be sure to visit! The challenge this month is to create a project to celebrate the Mad Hatter, AND to bring something to our Mad Tea Party!

My project will be here next Sunday!

So find something fun to bring to our Mad Tea Party, and show & tell when you link your project that celebrates the Mad Hatter! You have until Friday, June 24 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (GMT -4:00) and we'll announce the winner of the £15 voucher for The Artistic Stamper stamps on Sunday, June 26! And Happy Mad Hatter Day from The Altered Alice!
