Chapter 5-Week 3 Tea-things

`And ever since that,' the Hatter went on in a mournful tone, `he won't do a thing I ask! It's always six o'clock now.' A bright idea came into Alice's head. `Is that the reason so many tea-things are put out here?' she asked. `Yes, that's it,' said the Hatter with a sigh: `it's always tea-time, and we've no time to wash the things between whiles.' `Then you keep moving round, I suppose?' said Alice. `Exactly so,' said the Hatter: `as the things get used up.' `But what happens when you come to the beginning again?' Alice ventured to ask.

The Mad Hatter's tea table was full of tea-things, with place settings all the way around and many teapots and teacups. Your challenge this month is to have a teapot or teacup on your project, and, as an option, to use something OTHER than a stamped image as your focal point!

That's because The Altered Alice design team will be showing off with digital collage sheets from One Crabapple [Etsy Store Blog], which has of the most interesting and different Alice in Wonderland categories I've seen! The winner will have their choice of five collage sheets from One Crabapple!

Here is what I have done with Collage sheets...Go Ask Alice The Tea Party Queen Page 2 & Through The Looking Glass Toadstool Tea Party Page 1

This is the front cover. I have gessoed, painted, stained, chalked, cut and glued. I started with some thicker chipboard and cut a hole into it for the window. This gave it a shadow box look to it. I a layered the papers to keep it looking as if Alice is looking out the window. Perhaps waiting for someone?
a closer look

even closer!

The inside pages were done much the same. I do have to say I did get some inspiration from my team mate Sue Roddis. I love the way she does her journal pages.....you can see them here. So this is my attempt at a sort of journal page, but not. The reason? It is only the front cover and these to pages. No journal.

I did use letters from tim holtz. I just could not do my own lettering and show it to the public.
Nope could not do it!
I hope you enjoyed my attempt at a sort of journal page. I just had to try!
I did learn I do like the smeary look the chalk gives over the paint and ink. I will be using that a lot more!

Now go check out what the others have done this week, then get to work on your own artwork and share it with us. Who knows you might just win 5 digital sheets from One Crabapple. Your choice!

July is a long month, so you have almost four weeks to enter your project! Plenty of time for even our stragglers to play along, just be sure to enter by 11:59 p.m. EDT (Eastern Daylight Time, UTC -4:00) on Friday, July 29. The winner and honorable mentions will be announced the last Sunday of the month on July 31.

Wow! (That was my first thought when I saw your project this morning) You're owning this technique...I adore your art pages that won't have journaling on them ;)

I love this! Our sultry Alice deserves a question like this, it is so much FUN and your techniques are fantastic! You really rocked this challenge, GREAT use of the collage sheets. I am going to miss you, you were on board with The Altered Alice even before the challenges and design team. We'll keep a candle in the window for you and look forward to your return when life allows playtime again. Bless you!
