New Paper Flowers-Eileen Hull/Sizzix

Oh you guys are going to LOVE
Eileen Hull's new Spring line of Sizzix Dies!

Paper Flower Party a Sizzix Collection from Eileen Hull
I used this awesome flower for my project and I LOVE it!

Sizzix Bigz Die - Flower, Heart & Soul
This is the Heart & Soul flower

1. Cut flowers using the Heart & Soul die. Paper used is Graphic 45 World's Fair.

oops! I got a little carried away!!!!

 2. I used Eileen Hull Color Blends - Nutmeg to add distress look on edge of the pedals

3. I found this owl at Michael's in the kids craft area. I traced around the owl and adhered the paper to the owl using Beacon 3-in-1.

4. The flowers were stacked using 2 large, 2 mediums, 2 small. How to stack....large add pop dot to center and add 2nd large on top, adhere 2 mediums and 2 smalls using Beacon 3- in- 1 adhesive. I adhered a vintage sequin on top of small pedal, added a gem on top of that.

Check out those eyes!

Last I adhered this gorgeous owl to a small memo board for small notes.

Finished piece. I used push pins and adhered sequins onto them to make the push pins super cute!

Bonus......Remember I got carried away making flowers?

This is what I did with them!!!!

Make sure you check out the rest of the DT's beauties! Go to Eileen's blog HERE!

Mini Christmas Chest

This piece was inspired by Shelly Hickox, she made a beautiful chest of drawers. I wanted to make something similar, but different! I wanted to just have a few drawers to add little trinkets or candy for
the grandchildren to find. A soft glow from a battery operated candle would add a final touch that I was looking for.

Here’s what you need:
  • Ultra-Thin Glue Dots®
  • Craft Glue Dots®
  • 1″ Glue Lines®
  • Christmas Past Collection - Graphic 45
  • Red cardstock
  • Hitch Fasteners
  • Metal Snowflakes
  • Tin Roll
  • Battery Operated Candle
  • Metal Bell Embellishment
  • 1 Brad
  • 4 – Metal Feet (Optional; I used Sliding Closet Door Replacements)
  • Little Sizzles Mat Board – Sizzix
  • Die Cut Machine – Sizzix Big Kick
  • Candy Drawer Sizzix Die Cut (Eileen Hull)
  • Label & Buckle Sizzix Die Cuts (Eileen Hull)
  • Plaque & Postage Sizzix Die Cuts (Tim Holtz)
  • Hole punch
Here’s what you do:
  1. Cut 4 candy drawers using the Little Sizzles Mat Board.
  2. Put together all candy drawers using Ultra-Thin Glue Dots and 1″ Glue Lines.
  3. Adhere candy drawers together using Ultra-Thin Glue Dots, Stacking three of the drawers.
  4. Measure and cut paper to adhere to the outside stack of three drawers.
  5. The remaining drawer you will measure and adhere your paper to the outside of just that drawer.
  6. The single drawer is now ready to adhere to the bottom drawer of the stack of three. Adhere it using Ultra-Thin Glue Dots.
  7. Cover each of the inside drawers with different papers from the collection and adhere using Ultra-Thin Glue Dots.
  8. Die cut four of the Label & Buckle with red cardstock and adhere to each of the drawers using Ultra-Thin Glue Dots.
  9. Punch hole in center of each drawer and add snowflake and hitch to each.
  10. Measure your chest of drawers and cut a back for it using Little Sizzles Mat board and die cut top with the Plaque side of die.
  11. Adhere paper to back.
  12. Using your Ultra-Thin Glue Dots, carefully apply it to the back of the outside of the drawers and adhere them to the back.
  13. Cut out a piece of one of the papers to add to the back, just over the candle. Use brad to secure. (optional)
  14. Add metal bell embellishment to top center using Ultra-Thin Glue Dots.
  15. Wrap metal around candle and adhere using 1″ Glue Lines.
  16. Adhere metal feet to bottom of drawers using Ultra-Thin Glue Dots.
  17. Turn your battery operated candle on and enjoy.
Don’t forget to fill the drawers with candy for the kids to find!

CHAPTER 14 Challenge: Splendidly Dressed! -Week 3

"After a time she heard a little pattering of feet in the distance, and she hastily dried her eyes to see what was coming. It was the White Rabbit returning, splendidly dressed, with a pair of white kid gloves in one hand and a large fan in the other: he came trotting along in a great hurry, muttering to himself as he came, `Oh! the Duchess, the Duchess! Oh! won't she be savage if I've kept her waiting!'"-- Chapter 2; Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Chapter 11: STRIPES! Week 3

"At the two-yard peg she faced round, and said, 'A pawn goes two squares in its first move, you know.So you'll go VERY quickly through the Third Square--by railway, I should think--and you'll find yourself in the Fourth Square in no time. Well, THAT square belongs to Tweedledum and Tweedledee--the Fifth is mostly water--the Sixth belongs to Humpty Dumpty--But you make noremark?''I--I didn't know I had to make one--just then,' Alice faltered out."- Chapter 11, Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There Happy new year! When I think of Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, I always think stripes and plaids. Lewis Carroll does not mention the patterns they are wearing, but so many illustrations and movies have clad them in mismatched stripes and patterns. Your challenge this month is to use STRIPES

Jenny Doh, formerly the managing editor of the famous Stampington publications, has started an artist's community website called CRESCENDOh. There is an online shop selling all kinds of things including charming CRESCENDOh clear stamps, including the Alice in Wonderland by Danita set that the design team is showing off. But the heart of the site is all the stories; stories by artists of all kinds, stampers, quilters, paper crafters. Each shares a tale of how art has changed their life. For some it is a joyous outlet, but for many others it has been a way to stay afloat in times of tragedy or grief. As I thought about this challenge, the theme of STRIPES seemed appropriate. Stripes decorate circus tents and tents of the knights of old. Stripes are birthday wrapping paper and elegant Regency wallpaper. Stripes are the traditional garb of prisoners, and stripes are also how the marks of a whip are described. Stripes can represent so many different things, and the creative process has been many things to the people who have contributed stories to the CRESCENDOh site.
Author Jenny Doh is donating a signed copy of her latest book, Art Saves, which is not only full of eye candy but is also full of the stories of how art changes lives. "Discover not only the HOW but also the WHY, through the stunning projects and unique stories of 20 exciting multi-media artists." Thanks so much to Jenny for contributing such a meaningful prize to start off 2012!

Enter your project featuring stripes by Friday, Jan. 27. The winner will be announced the following Sunday. As always, entries that feature Wonderland will have two chances at the random drawing instead of one. You may enter as often as you like but each entry must be on a separate post. All posts must mention and link back to the challenge.

This week my art piece is a mixed media plaque. It has been a tough week, I have been sick with pneumonia, I have been sick since before Christmas. It hit me hard this week. I was also asked to make some projects for CHA using the Cosmo Cricket line.

So here you go here is my project for this month of stripes
I took a 6" X 12" board and gessoed it and painted the background. Set aside to dry, took mini canvas and added paper from graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland, also set aside to dry. I then took to coloring my images with colored pencils. Blending with Gamasol. I love these little images. I could color them over and over again. I cut them out and then adhered them to the little canvas. I Have not put a finish on this as I think I will be adding a coat of wax to it. I think it will look fabulous with wax. I could not put it on now as my lungs are weak.

Here are some close ups of the mini canvas

Here is one that I was just playing with. It is kinda of a "Where's Waldo"

So that's it for me this week. I am hoping for a feeling better kind of week for me. It is time.

Now off you go......check out this weeks inspiration by the Altered Alice design team members. Then go get your stripes going and join in on the challenge.
