CHAPTER 37: Halloween in WONDERLAND...

CHAPTER 37: Halloween in WONDERLAND...

Hey everyone!

We have a "just for fun" post today here in Wonderland that doesn't follow a book excerpt or poem...just a good ol' fashioned HALLOWEEN theme!
After all, tomorrow IS Halloween and it's time to showcase some fun projects, and many of us are using the Graphic 45 special line of papers, Halloween in Wonderland!

It must be Halloween, my post is on the wrong side? What's going on?
BOO!
This week I have used Graphic 45 (for my 45th time this season!) I swear I have used it a lot!
But I really like it, it gives me so much inspiration.
For this card, lots of layers, I used tim's alteration's die, up cycled cardboard, Spellbinder die, layered them all up. I then water colored Alice and the Cheshire cat. I figured the cat wanted to sit on the fence so I free hand cut the fence out. (very simple, no rocket science here) I thought it would be kind of creepy to have the hand reaching through the fence as if to grab the cat. So spooky! Tied some colored twine around the card and added the little pumpkin. Oh and a little bat, poor thing I almost forgot about him.

Here is a closer look at the hand reaching for the Cheshire cat.
Ohhhh Spooky!

Hope you enjoyed the card this week!

We really hope you enjoy our projects today and that you feel like playing along! Today our VERY generous DT member Ky is offering up a set of Alice stamps by Elaine Cox! Even more of a reason to get creepy or crafty this week and show us what you can do!

So get your card done and link it to: "Oh Alice"

Few Quick Projects and My ATC

I had to come up with some quick projects last night, so this is what I came up with.
Here are a couple candy holders made with Cosmo Cricket "Matilda"

I love this one!

Here is a larger treat bag! These were so quick and easy!

Here is the little gift card that goes with the bag above.

And on to my ATC for October. I used a playing card for the background. I scratched it up with a file and put some translucent paint over the card. You really can't see it in the picture.
I then took molding gel medium and started to make my cat. This was a little tricky as it stuck to the paintbrush and did not want to come off in the right places.

If you look at the cheeks they are raised, little on the ears and around the mouth. I wanted this cat to be dimensional, without being to bulky. I then had to wait a day for this to dry (I hate to wait, but I did). Then I painted the eyes, mouth, cheeks. Added the bow tie and put some good ole crepe paper on, then added the strip of paper with tim holtz tiny attacher, I know I always have to mention him somewhere, but I use his stuff in pretty much everything I do.

Here is it all done. I made little bags to put them in this month. I thought it was just a cute touch! I love they way these turned out. One thing I would do next time is to sand off a little more background, I think the cat would have shown better. But all in all I love him!

Thanks for stopping by........Got time leave a comment let me know what cha think. You know we all love our comments! Okay I don't always leave them. Fair is fair! But you can always become a follower!

CHAPTER 36: CHESS - CHESSBOARD - CHESSMEN

CHAPTER 36: CHESS - CHESSBOARD - CHESSMEN

"They don't keep this room so tidy as the other,' Alice thought to herself, as she noticed several of the chessmen down in the hearth among the cinders: but in another moment, with a little `Oh!' of surprise, she was down on her hands and knees watching them. The chessmen were walking about, two and two!

`Here are the Red King and the Red Queen,' Alice said (in a whisper, for fear of frightening them), `and there are the White King and the White Queen sitting on the edge of the shovel -- and here are two castles walking arm in arm..."
--Ch. 1: Through the Looking Glass

The challenge this week is again the brainchild of DT member Lynne-to use some aspect of the game of chess! You might want to use a checkerboard pattern, or feature a King, Queen, Knight or Castle (Rook), or some other aspect of the game we haven't thought of - we just need to be able to clearly see CHESS in your creation!

We are THRILLED to announce that there's a prize this week, too! Thanks to our generous sponsor, PAPER MANIAC, this week, they are giving away a set of Artistic Outpost Alice in Wonderland mini-stamps AND a sheet of E.A.D. Designs Stickerz! How awesome is that?

Here's some inspiration from the DT before we 'pawn' you off on your own to create this week:

This week I used last weeks gate fold, added Graphic 45 paper and a rosette, a bit of elastic ruffle. Just could not find the right saying, so I came up with my own. That's it pretty simple card.

Checkmate! Have YOU met your match? You have until FRIDAY, October 29th to enter your creation and throw your hat (or should I say, crown?) in the ring for this awesome PAPER MANIAC prize this week! We'll announce the winner her in Wonderland during our next challenge!
See you soon!

I took my G-Kids to Zoo Boo! We had a great time. Zoo Boo is held every year at our local, still free zoo. They decorate the zoo with cut outs and pumpkins and cornstalks.
Many people in costumes and they hand out candy to the kids.
It is geared towards the younger child. So much fun!
However I do have to show you one picture that I took
that I thought turned out pretty cool(no children in this picture)

Okay on with the show! This area was themed in Africa!

Can you guess who is having tea with Alice?

Farris is a little smitten with this zebra!

Here they are with the bear

The wolves

Here is my little dinosaur
Here is the tail
So cute it wags as she walks!
On another note........some great blog candy at

The Altered Alice

I want to share a very special place...............Why is it special "you ask"?
This is a place where your mind can be taken in a whole new direction. You will look at things, art differently. Sometimes when we see, we really don't look! It is kinda like not listening, but you hear something, you just don't know what that something is.

This place is called The Altered Alice, it is a place where you will find art in the altered form. The person behind this blog will describe the art in a way that if you just looked at it you probably would not have noticed. Her vision of the art and descriptions are as if she is one with the art. This person is Lynne, and she has started this new blog, not just for her but for all the altered artist who love Alice.

Lynne has made this blog amazing. The graphics are fabulous, I love this special place. Altered Alice has just been around a short amount of time, but Lynne has had quite a few fabulous artist's already on the blog. I am telling you it is pretty neat place to go! Who knows you may just find a new favorite artist. So enough of my babble, go visit her here I know you will love it.
http://alteredalice.blogspot.com/ I guess I should mention I am a guest right now!

CHAPTER 35: Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Wonderland's Door

"Alice laughed so much at this, that she had to run back into the wood for fear of their hearing her; and when she next peeped out the Fish-Footman was gone, and the other was sitting on the ground near the door, staring stupidly up into the sky.

Alice went timidly up to the door, and knocked.

`There's no sort of use in knocking,' said the Footman, `and that for two reasons. First, because I'm on the same side of the door as you are; secondly, because they're making such a noise inside, no one could possibly hear you.' And certainly there was a most extraordinary noise going on within--a constant howling and sneezing, and every now and then a great crash, as if a dish or kettle had been broken to pieces.

`Please, then,' said Alice, `how am I to get in?'
~Chapter 6, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Hey everyone! It's a beautiful day here in Wonderland and we are BACK with another challenge! Have you ever felt like Alice? Not sure which door, window, or keyhole will be opened or closed next? Not sure which direction you're going but curiouser and curiouser about them all?

What a PERFECT opportunity to explore some new avenues, and walk through new doors we bring you at Oh, Alice this week. That's right! Your challenge this week is to create a card or project using a Door, Gate, or Keyhole. Now, you can also get creative and do a gatefold technique, etc. As long as we can see it's a "Gatefold" or that there is a door, gate, or keyhole somewhere on your project! How FUN is this?

The best part? There's no time limit to play this week, so have fun and here's to opening lots of new doors in the future!

This is what I came up with this week......I made a door with a large keyhole and added a handle. Alice is waiting for you to enter. I water colored the door to look like wood.

Here is the key hole up close.

Here is the inside....I thought it would be fun to add a table that un-folds as you open the card, then the table would not be complete without a teapot and cup on it. The stamped image is water colored.

Hope you enjoyed my card. It is a little more on the altered side of card making, but still fun!

Now go check out the rest of the "Oh Alice" gals and see what fun stuff they came up with.

Halloween garland

How about I share a Halloween garland I put together last night?
It is kinda fun........I used Tim's new rosette die and I love it!
This rosette on the right was just being goofy. As fragile as skeletons are..........the arms fell off a few and I stuck them in the rosette.....kinda creepy fun!

Here is the garland!

Imagine 7 fabulous feet of this, that is how long it is.
I love the way it turned out. Hard to get a picture of the whole thing as the wind is blowing it all over today.

Hope you enjoyed my spooky garland. Very quick and easy to make.
Thanks for stopping by.
